Choosing the right roller for your job
5mm
Use on cabinetry, metal, furniture, or anywhere were the smoothest finish is required. Holds less paint so great for touch-ups and higher sheen
10mm
Use for anywhere where a smooth finish is desired. Great for eggshell and satin finishes on drywall and panelling.
13mm
Great for general purpose drywall painting with flats, mattes, or eggshell when a slightly thicker coat is required. Paints a larger area than 10mm nap with a similar finish.
15mm
Higher production than lower naps. Use on semi-rough surfaces like ceilings, textured walls. Great for priming and covering a large area quickly.
18mm
Use with flat paints on rough surfaces like textured or stucco walls. Rough ceilings, and masonry. Holds lots of paint and can give a textured finish if desired.
20mm+
Use high nap rollers for painting brick or extremely rough surfaces. The long fibres can reach into nooks and crannies that other rollers miss. Be careful not to apply too much paint on smoother areas. As it will leave a textured finish.
